Recreation in the Methow Valley
So many choices, so little time!
The Methow Valley is a recreational paradise. Come during any season, and you will find more than your heart desires. Here's just bit of information about what awaits you.
Hiking
The Methow Valley is just 30 minutes from Washington Pass, on the border of
North Cascades National Park,
and a hop, skip and a jump to Harts Pass (the highest point you can drive to in Washington.) You'll find some of the finest hiking in North America here.
Trails range from easy to very difficult, and there are spectacular options for hikers of all abilities.
Biking
The Methow Valley is a mecca for mountain bikers and road bikers alike. Many of the ski trails are used for mountain biking in summer, and there are loads of dirt roads and single track options in the hills surrounding the valley. Take your pick from hundreds of choices.
Our favorite time of year to ride is spring, when the hills are covered by a dazzling display of wildflowers.
If you prefer biking on roads, you'll discover so many scenic rides it's hard to keep count. With many locals cyclists themselves, you can feel safe on the roads - our drivers are some of the most bicycle friendly you'll find anywhere.
Skiing
Picture yourself soaking up the sun under deep blue skies, with pristine powder snow covered hills in the background - that's the Methow Valley in winter. The Methow Valley boasts one of the largest and best cross country ski trail systems in North America, with over 200 km of expertly groomed ski trails for both classic and skate skiing. Home for both past and future Olympians, it's not uncommon for the latest talk of the town to be how amazing the skiing was yesterday. (Not surprisingly, many of us are known to play hooky from other obligations when the snow conditions are just right!)
Likewise, there are endless possibilities for backcountry skiing - if you are a telemark or randonee skier, the Methow valley is a dream come true. If downhill skiing is your destiny, check out the ski hill at Loup Loup summit. It's a blast!
And much, much more

In autumn, snow returns to the high peaks of the Methow Valley, and the lower elevations glow with beautiful shades of gold and orange.
